#YesWeCode Partners with the White House

In order to leverage technology to address societal inequities, The White House launched the Opportunity Project.

According to the White House:

The Opportunity Project expands access to opportunity for all Americans by putting data and digital tools in the hands of families, communities, and local leaders, to help them navigate information about the resources they need to thrive.

Upcoming Webinar Series
At #YesWeCode, we'd like to help the spread the word about these tools and help members of the CS learning community increase their civic engagement capacity. To do so, we are hosting the #YesWeCode Broadening Access to the Opportunity Project Data Webinar Series. Details for each session are below:
Session 1 on Wednesday, May 25th from 1pm - 2pm EST:
The first session will be co-hosted by Aden Van Noppen, advisor to the US Chief Technology Officer at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. During this session, Aden and #YesWeCode will highlight the main features of the data set, and provide space for tech trainers to ask key questions about the data set.
Session 2 on Tuesday, June 7 and Session 3 on Monday, June 13 from 1pm - 2pm EST:
The second and third session will be a facilitated discussion about ways to integrate the tool into curriculum and learning activities. During the discussion, organizations who already have ideas about or experiences with use of the Opportunity Data will have a chance to share their thoughts, and organizations who want to learn more will have an opportunity to ask deeper questions. The objective for these sessions is for participants to walk away with concrete examples of how the data can be used to enrich learning environments.
