Q: What is the largest source of air pollution in the United States?

April 21, 2023

A: The Transportation Sector

The transportation sector contributes to air pollution more than any other sector. A staggering 28% of greenhouse gas emissions come directly from vehicles. This is in large part due to the fact that over 94% of the fuel used for transportation is petroleum based. These fossil fuel emissions from transportation contaminates our air, increases greenhouse gasses, damages our environment and exposes us to cancerous gasses and asthma. Supporting a nationwide transition to electric vehicles will do wonders for improving air quality and curtailing the worst of climate change.
